Well, he’s back. After 3 months of sickness and 40 pounds of weight loss, Brock Lesnar has recovered and is ready to start kicking ass and taking names again. Brock Lesnar pounds Frank Mir It turns out Brock was suffering from diverticulitism, which is swelling (inflammation) of an abnormal pouch (diverticulum) in the intestinal wall. These pouches are usually found in the large intestine (colon).

After months of medication and a recommendation to have his colon removed, Brock has now recovered, is pain free and has put back 30 pounds of muscle. His illness forced him to cancel his bout in November 2009 with Shane Carwin. Carwin is now scheduled to fight Frank Mir in March and UFC President Dana White has hinted the winner will face Lesnar in the Summer.

Neither of the two will produce any type of huge interest in facing Lesnar. Brock destroyed Mir in their last fight and was on his way to destroying him in their first fight, pounding Mir for a couple of straight minutes, when he got a hold of Lesnar’s leg and was able to submit him. Carwin does not have the name in MMA yet to draw any fans, so most of the interest with either opponent will be because Lesnar is fighting, not because of who he is fighting.

Nonetheless, it will be great for MMA fans to see him back in the octagon and not so great for heavyweight fighters. Aside from a lucky punch or a surprising submission, there is nobody that can compete with Lesnar right now. Brock Lesnar is too big and too strong and has just enough skills on the ground to dominate the division for a few more years. He knows his talent lies in taking someone down and pounding them from a side mount. It’s almost impossible to get knocked out from that position and unlike if you are in someones guard, it’s tough to get submitted with an arm bar or choke from the side position.

Look for Lesnar to beat Carwin or Mir pretty easily in the summer and then look for Dana White to find a bigger name to fight him in his next fight. The fighter will probably be lan older fighter that seen his better days, but be a bigger draw. I could see it being Randy Couture or Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira .

In any scenario, MMA and UFC fans win with the recovery of Lesnar. Hang on for a wild ride over the next year watching Brock dismantle the entire division.

OJ Simpson gets off easy… Judge changes mind at last minute!

Well, as much as we’d all like to think it’s over, it’s probably not.  There will be more appeals and interviews.  We’ll see lots of commentary from some of the people involved.  But the bottom line is, OJ has been sentenced to 7 1/2 years to 17 1/2 years in prison.

Guilty!

Guilty!

Was he guilty?  Of course.  Did he mean to do what he did?  Yes.  Did he know what he was doing at the time? Absolutely.  Now after just over a year he’s sorry.  He’s thought about it and he knows he shouldn’t have done it.  But at the time he got caught up in the moment and made a mistake.

The prosocuter wanted 18 years.  He got 7 1/2 minimum.  That’s 7 1/2 years if he’s lucky.  Amazingly, this is the same sentence given to his co-defendant, CJ Stewart.

As I watched every minute of the sentencing, I believe what I saw was a last second change.  I think the Judge heard what OJ said and changed what she was going to sentence at the last second.  She got taken by the moment and wasn’t ready for what she heard.

I believe she intended to give CJ Stewert the 7 1/2 year minimum sentence and OJ was going to get substantially more.  She heard OJ’s pre-sentence speech and quickly starting ruffling some papers.  At this moment, I believe she changed her mind.  But to change her mind at the last second meant that all her preperation for what she was planning on giving for the sentence was out the door!

So, with not much choice and no time to she decided to give OJ the same sentence as CJ.  She basically read CJ Stewart’s decision, put OJ’s aside and re-read CJ’s sentence for OJ.  A stunning last second change.

Stay tuned… it’s not over.  CJ Stewart will appeal that he should have had a separate trial, which he probably should have.  OJ will appeal that he got an unfair sentence due to his previous troubles.  So we should be hearing about this story for a good majority of 2009.  But one thing is for sure…  Both men should get out of prison before their death, due to the lighter than expected sentence.  OJ should feel especially lucky that his last minute speech worked out for him.

History repeated itself a little bit on this sentencing day.  What we saw was a 4th and goal for OJ’s team, and he leaped over the goal line for a last second TD.  He pulled it off as a player for the Buffalo Bills and he just pulled it off again 30 years later.

OJ Simpson back in court… the truth is near!

Well, it’s like dejavu all over again.  OJ Simpson is back in court.  The only problem this time is that he can’t say he wasn’t there since there are hotel security cameras and a video inside the room where the incident took place.

1994 Mugshot

1994 Mugshot

If you’ve read his book “If I did it”, you know that he had absolutely nothing to do with the murder of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson.  You also know he also says he only pushed her out of a room once and was never violent.  In fact, OJ says she abused him when she was drunk.  He loved her and would never hurt her.

No bruises in site???

Do you see any bruising??? OJ didn't

So, it’s not a far stretch to guess what the defense is going to be in the newest case of “got the wrong guy”.  I’d say it going to go something like this…

OJ was there but had no idea what was going to happen.  He just wanted his things back.

OJ had no idea two of his friends had a gun.

Oj never saw the guns.

Everyone in the room, including his friends are now out to get him.

OJ is just a guy that wants to mind his own business and got trapped.

The one thing this really effects, in my opinion, is OJ’s search for the real killer of Nicole and Ron.  He promised after the last trial that he would search and find the real killer.  For the last 13 years he’s searched just about every golf course in Florida as well as dozens of others around the Country.

Has anyone see a killer here?

Has anyone see a killer here?

He’s also searched high end restaruants, beaches and other high profile events.

Im going to interview every one of these girls!

I'm going to interview every one of these girls!

Now, because OJ is tied up with this newest trial, the real murderer of Nicole and Ron will probably have time to escape to somewhere where OJ can’t find him.  This is a trajedy and only happened because everyone is out to get OJ.

But back to the topic at hand.  It seems to me, OJ has a free ticket in life.  Yeah, he’s spent a lot of money on lawyers and court cases, but he can pretty much do whatever he wants.  He’s got a pension fund nobody can touch.  He can abuse, murder, write a book about murder, rob and who knows what else in the future and get away with it.

In a few weeks, OJ will be free again.  Found not guilty based on his ignorance of the situation, that everyone, including his friends, set him up and the fact that he just wanted his things back and nothing more.  It’s just a matter of time before he’s in the news again afterwards.  He might accidently punch a photographer or mistakenly call someone and threaten them, but something will happen.  The only question is if he will find the real murderer before it does.
